Today we welcome the hurricane that’s Mimi Barks to the Silent Cult Roster. We are home to passionate, incredible artists that are not easily pigeon-holed in any genre and Mimi is a perfect example of what we stand for.
Mimi’s “from-the-heart-guts-n-soul” smash of trap beats and raspy, pissed-off vocals has been christened: “DOOM TRAP” and the name fits. It’s the bitter pill the former Berliner- now-relocated-to-London intends to smear all over the genre in a way that’s punk-as-fuck and louder-than-hell. This is the sound of music eating its young.
This is a new era for Mimi Barks and we are incredibly excited to be part of her journey, releasing her new single SUICIDE, out now everywhere.
Mimi on SUICIDE:
It’s the awakening. The suicide of my younger self. The suicide that leads to awakening.
I was in a constant battle with myself. Asking myself If I would be able to ever reprogram my core believes and rewire my brain. When you go through the process of awakening, there are a lot of bad energies and emotions coming up.
And what I kept asking myself was: do I want to be able to see, do I actually want to understand. Or would I rather stick to the reality I have created for myself in order to stay suffering, in order to be able to create.
Because I believe that I can only create out of pain. I was scared to let my ego go and learn gratitude, learn how to give love to others and myself. I was scared transforming into a new version of myself.
