Stef Pascual – AIM Board Nominations 2019

I’m a strong advocate of the DIY work ethic within the independent sector, transparency, and the potential of working independently with the right teams and building up artists (and labels, and careers!) from the ground up.
Even though most of my experience is around Digital Strategy, I think I’ve assumed every possible role in the industry at some point…admin intern, live production, physical sales, pr, promoter, commercial liaison, business development, supply chain manager and of course label founder.
My main aim (pun intended) of serving on the board would primarily to utilise my broad, holistic experience across my career to date to stimulate the business development and growth of small record labels, which I believe to be the backbone of the independent sector. We collectively and finally have the teeth and market share to stand toe-to-toe with the majors, who for the past few years have been land-grabbing rights at the distribution level in order to consolidate their position and monopolise the master rights landscape to their advantage. Now is the time to cultivate the next generation of labels by arming them with the necessary overarching knowledge base and work ethic (not least of all adopting best practices in regards to environmental protection and promoting well-being) and helping them source the finances needed to future-proof them.
